Alcohol seized in Port Augusta

Police have seized a large amount of alcohol following an operation in Port Augusta last week.

Patrols conducted a driver testing station on the Augusta Highway just south of Port Augusta last Thursday and Friday.

As part of the testing, over 600 litres of alcohol was seized with police alleging it was illegally bound for the APY Lands where liquor is banned.

On Thursday the following alcohol was seized:

76 x 5 litres casks of wine
11 x 1 litre Jim Beam bottles
1 x 700 ml Jack Daniels
4 x 1.36 litre bottles of Jack Daniels
5 x 1.25 Litre bottles of Bundaberg
1 x 700 ml Bundaberg
4 x 1 litre of Smirnoff
2 x 24 packs of Jim Beam and Cola Cans
48 x Spirit alco pops.


On Friday the following alcohol was seized:

26 x 5 litres casks of wine
6 x 1 litre Jim Beam bottles
11 x 1.25 Litre bottles of Bundaberg
4 x 1 litres bottle of Vodka
3 x 1.36 litre bottles of Jack Daniels
18 x bottles of white wine
2 x 10 pack of Jim bean and Cola premix
1 x 10 pack of Bundaberg and Cola premix
10 x 700 ml flavoured cruiser bottles
1 x 6 pack of VB beer

No charges have been laid at this time, however police are investigating the circumstances and offences such as supplying or transporting liquor in a prescribed areas (Section 21OC of the Summary Offences Act) are being considered.
