An investigation is underway after a local angler was caught fishing illegally in the region.
PIRSA officers apprehending the fisher in possession of multiple protected snapper, which had attempted to be hidden.
The waters affected by the snapper fishing closures, include the Gulf St Vincent, West Coast and Spencer Gulf and are all slated to remain off-limits until JUNE 30, 2026.

Penalties for illegal fishing in these areas can reach up to $20,000.
