The Whyalla steelworks is experiencing another shutdown in steel production, marking the second stoppage this year.
The blast furnace initially went cold in mid-March and resumed at the end of June after repairs.
However, production has now stopped again due to “unwanted material” entering the furnace.

GFG Alliance has not indicated when operations will resume, but chairman Sanjeev Gupta has reiterated his commitment to the Whyalla steel and iron ore operations, despite challenges from the ongoing global steel price crisis.
