A Karate Kid Video Game that is Old School

GameMill Entertainment has announced a game based on a popular film series from the 80s “The Karate Kid: Street Rumble”.

Watch the trailer to see the glorious 16-bit-style, in a side-scrolling beat ’em up game similar to classics like Streets of Rage and Double Dragon.

In the game you’ll play as one of many familiar characters following some of the main events of the entire original 1980s movie trilogy over twelve stages including Topanga Beach, West Valley High, Cobra Kai Dojo, and the All Valley Tournament as the Cobra Kai try to destroy Miyagi-Do karate.

The playable characters in the titles are Daniel LaRusso, Mr. Miyagi, Ali Mills, and Kumiko and yes of course you’ll see classic moves like the crane kick.

What is a fighting game without a good boss fight and in The Karate Kid Street Rumble you’ll battle villains like Johnny Lawrence, John Kreese, and Terry Silver.

You can play in single-player mode but these games are often best played in multiplayer so they have included local co-op for up to four players.

The Karate Kid Street Rumble is coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 20th.
